Since I started my career in Web Development I have been learning about and using Divi Visual Builder. The reason for this is for its simplicity for when we hand a site back to a client and they wish to continue updating and changing the text on their site. With Divi Visual Builder you are offered two forms of editing, Front-End Visual Builder and Back-end Visual Builder.
Using the Front-end Visual Builder allows you to get a visual representation of what the changes on a page will look like in real time without having to update the page. At the top of each page, you will see a button that allows you to enable the Visual Builder. This is useful if you have a page on your site that is live already and you do not wish people to view the changes that you are making.
The Back-end Builder works in the WordPress dashboard and acts as an improved version of WordPress’ own Gutenberg editor. This is useful when you are looking to make some quick changes to a page whilst you are in the dashboard.
What is Divi?
Divi is a powerful theme that comes with it’s very own Visual Builder that can be used to create any type of website that you can think of with WordPress. While Divi is designed to be easy to use it will take some time getting used to all the controls and the interface of the builder if you are looking to get the most out of the theme. With the Divi Visual Builder you are provided all the tools you need to build a WordPress website without needing to worry about editing any code.
With its large library of editable templates, you are able to customise to your hearts contend ensuring that the site is your own. If you are unsure about choosing Divi and need to see some examples of what Divi sites look like, then click here to view their customer showcase.
Should you use Divi?
Great for clients
If you are developer and are looking to eventually pass your clients website back to them then I highly recommend using Divi as it allows them to see and click where they want to edit. Compared to using Custom Fields using Divi is a lot easier to explain to them allowing for shorthand over calls to introduce your clients to the Divi Builder.
Speeds up Development Time
The Divi Builder comes with a built in auto save function which takes away the panic of when you are editing your site and your internet drops or your page times out leaving you heart broken. Another benefit that Divi has is that there are many layouts that can be reused. Also, whenever a layout is made there is a resource posted on their blog showing you how they made it.
Pros of using Divi
- You can use it an unlimited number of websites.
- The Divi Theme is multipurpose and can be used on every project.
- Instant Visual updates on the Front-end Visual Builder.
- Premade Divi Page Layouts that you can use or use for inspiration.
- There is an extensive collection of tutorials and resources provided by Divi.
- Large community to provide you with support.
Cons of using Divi
- No popup builder built-in (There are plugins available for this).
- Will take time to master the page builder.
- Editing large pages can slow your machine down.
